THE WAR

A tweet by United Nations (UN) sustainable development recently said,’ the war in #Ukraine is affecting the country heavily but also its neighbors and beyond. Our UN teams are boosting support to authorities to address lower remittances, a spike in fuel and food prices. The #GlobalGoals is our north star to #LeaveNoOneBehind.’

These hashtags have been created to not only update everyone on what is going on on different places of the globe but also participate in making an impact towards seeking for change.

In Kenya there is a hike in petroleum products for a month,15th march to 14th April, in which during this period super petrol and diesel increase by 5 ksh per liter in which the prices are inclusive of the 8% added tax (VAT). After the release of the price changes chat there was and still is a thread (responses) whereby people are sharing their experiences on these changes, for example:
For the past week I have experienced an increase in the public transport fare and whenever you ask why, the response is all the same,’ wameongeza pesa ya mafuta ( they have increased the prices of fuel).

  1. Prices of fuel, gas and cooking oil have risen drastically all over the world as a result of the war between Ukraine and Russia. We as Kenyans are experiencing the same problem leading to an increase in prices of commodities. Let’s hope the war comes to an end soon or else we will be having a hard time all through.
